Overview

This was an enjoyable project that stimulated my creativity and taught me new skills in Figma: blending, animating, and prototyping. I enjoyed connecting screens and seeing all my work come together in testing. Being able to view it as if it were a working app was thrilling.

Context

Thoughts behind the design

I chose a light and neutral color scheme for this restaurant to embrace a soft ambiance. The sophistication is highlighted through the clean, minimal design and muted colors. It has an upscale yet welcoming tone, with a little playfulness as well. For the menus, I enjoyed searching up dishes and small plates that upscale restaurants often serve. This project was the first time I played around with Figma's animations. It was a learning experience connecting panels to each other through buttons or text, and seeing it all come together in the prototype testing.

Takeaways

This was a few days' design sprint, where I picked up new skills while iterating: blending masked images and changing the opacity to create a fading effect. This was also the first project where I was able to integrate animations into my wireframes and create a working prototype. I was able to see how many different interactions there are in a mobile experience, creating new wireframes in order to successfully link everything and get the desired transition effects.
